Korean Drama Review : Dream High (드림하이)

Dream High (드림하이) is a South Korean television drama series broadcast by Korean Broadcasting System in 2011. It features Suzy from Miss A (미쓰에이), Kim Soo-Hyun, Taecyeon from 2PM, Ham Eun Jung from T-ara (티아라), Wooyoung from 2PM and IU. 

Go Hye Mi (Suzy) is the protagonist of this television series. She was from a wealthy family but her father's business failed and he has fled to another country. As the eldest daughter, she have to pay off her father's debt to the debt collector, Ma Doo Shik (Ahn Kil Kang). Yoon Baek Hee (Ham Eun Jung) is Hye Mi's best friend but she is betrayed by Hye Mi during the Kirin Art School audition. Hye Mi failed the audition and looses her friendship with Baek Hee after betraying her. But throughout the drama, Hye Mi slowly mends her friendship with Baek Hee.

Hye Mi along with Song Sam Dong (Kim Soo-Hyun) and Hyun Si Hyuk a.k.a. Jin Guk (Taecyeon) were accepted into Kirin Art School by the Director as special recruited students under Kang Oh Hyuk (Uhm Ki Joon), a teacher in the school.

Kim Pil Sook (IU) is an overweight girl at the beginning of the drama who works hard on becoming slim and pretty for she has a major crush on Jason (Wooyoung), an American student. Pil Sook and Jason later ended up together.

These six students work hard to achieve their dreams of becoming stars in the Korean music industry. 

In the drama, the students learn how to develop their singing, song composing and dancing skills while facing many challenges to achieve their dreams. Each one of them have their strengths and weaknesses, but when they work together and with the support of each other, as shown at the end of the drama, Hye Mi, Sam Dong, Jin Guk, Baek Hee, Jason and Pil Sook manage to debut as a group called Dream High under Hayan Artist Management with Ma Doo Shik as the company's president. 

This television series is packed with comedy and romance. Plus, there are many nice pop songs and ballads sung by various artists in this Korean drama such as Dream High, Someday, My Valentine, Maybe and many, many more.
