Career Talk By Representatives From INTI International College, Penang =)

Mr Vincent Tung, Miss Amy, Miss Irene and Miss Patricia from INTI International College, Penang came to SMK Convent, Taiping on the 6th of January. There was a wonderful seminar on career by Mr Vincent Tung and he was extremely funny. =) Hopefully we get to see them again...

Second Day Of The Form 1 Orientation...

It was the 5th of January, the second day for the school peer mentors in conducting activities in the Form 1 orientation. Puan Low was really nice! =) She gave the facilitators of the Form 1 orientation some cool caps from the 2010 Kem Sukaria Pulau Pangkor. Sure, they were the extras from the camp but well, better something than nothing. =)

Anyway, Theva and I were appointed as the sub editors for our school magazine, Srikandi. =) Thanks a billion Natasha, Sue Jyie and the seniors for this golden opportunity! As I got home, a package from the News Straits Times Niexter arrived! =) I got a cool-looking t-shirt and two certificates for participation and Most Outstation Contributors. =)

First Day Being A Form 4 Student...

School started on the 4th of January. The school peer mentors became facilitators in the Form 1 orientation. We played many games and some of the students are sporting but some are not...that's the bad thing 'cause it is really hard to play the games 'cause to play 'em they gotta be fun and cool. Well, probably they are shy 'cause it is their first day in the secondary school but being too shy is just painfully bad...

Helped Out Mr Yim And Puan Low...

On the 3rd of January, Poh Kheng, Adibah, Athirah, Syafida, Ven Xhin and I came to school to help Mr Yim to carry the SPBT books. It was damn tiring, but at least we got to burn some calories. =) Then, we helped Puan Low to paint the counseling room purple in colour.

Poh Kheng painted the table and door purple too.

Although we felt tired but I think everyone is feeling quite pleased for we had the job well done! =)

Book Review : Charlie Bone

The Charlie Bone series is written by a British author, Jenny Nimmo. This wonderful series is full of fantasy, adventure and magic. The main character of this series, Charlie Bone, is a boy who is a descendant of the Red King. The Red King is called so for he wore a scarlet cloak and his shield is emblazoned with a burning sun. The Red King is a marvelous magician and each of his ten children inherited a small part of his power. Following the sequence from the eldest to the youngest, his ten children were Borlath, Amadis, Lilith, Cafal, Olga, Guanhamara, Petrello, Tomeleo, Wyborn and Amoret. When the King's wife, Queen Berenice died, five of his children, Borlath, Lilith, Cafal, Olga and Wyborn turn to wickedness and the other five of his children fled the castle to escape from their evil siblings. The Red King felt broken-hearted so he vanished into the forests with grief. Just as how his ten children inherited a small part of his power, the powers of the Red King were passed down through his descendants too. Charlie Bone, a descendant of the Red King's youngest child, Amoret, has the power to hear people talking in photographs and pictures. He can also travel into them and meet them. Through his father, Charlie is descended from the Red King and through his mother, he is descended from Mathonwy, a Welsh magician and an old friend of the Red King. His two bloodlines made him quite a powerful person. His grandaunts are delighted with his talent so they enrolled him in Bloor's Academy, an art, music and drama school. Since he is a descendant of the Red King, the Bloors, a family always plotting into nasty surprises made sure all the young descendants of the Red King in their town are enrolled into their school so that they could keep an eye on them. Charlie found out that out there, there are such people or things like were-beasts, storm-bringers, clairvoyants, shape shifters, travelers like him, telekinesis, magnetism, illusionists, invisibility and many, many more! This is my collection of the Charlie Bone series but mine has a different front cover for the eighth book. Well, both type of the book covers are still great although it is different. It doesn't change the content in it. =)

The story is really amazing and it makes you feel like reading on and on to find out what happens next. It is really intriguing and the plot is very interesting, so is the unique story line. Plus, there is humor in it too. Last I checked, they are now selling the whole set in the bookstores of Malaysia now. So get your own Charlie Bone series now at a reasonable and affordable price. Hiked Up Maxwell Hill Again...

Mei Mei, Tzy Jiun and I hiked up Maxwell Hill on the 2nd of January 2012. =) It was my first time hiking up using the challenging route and the trail ended up till check point 2. It was a really great experience and I would like to do it again some other day. =) Hopefully I have the time to exercise more in 2012 'cause I know that this will be a supremely busy year for me...

Korean Drama Review : My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (내 여자친구는 구미호)

My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (내 여자친구는 구미호) is a South Korean drama broadcasted by SBS featuring singers Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah.

A Gumiho is a legendary nine-tailed fox who was trapped by Grandma Samshin inside a painting. The poor Gumiho was trapped for 500 years in the painting by taking off her tails. Cha Dae Woong (Lee Seung Gi) is a very popular person in school who comes from a wealthy family as his grandfather, Cha Poong (Byeon Hee-bong) is very rich. Dae Woong lost both his parents when he was very young so he has been living with his grandfather and aunt.

Dae Woong is not interested in going to college, instead, he wants to become an actor. One day, Dae Woong escapes from his grandfather who wants him to study and got lost. He reaches a temple and heard a woman's voice telling him to draw nine tails on a drawing of a fox. Thinking it was a ghost, Dae Woong did as told as he was feeling scared. After drawing nine tails on the fox, he accidentally releases the Gumiho (Shin Min Ah). Dae Woong was so frightened that he ran away and got severely injured after falling off a steep slope in the forest. In order to save Dae Woong, the Gumiho gave him her precious fox bead. When Dae Woong finds out that she had saved him and he is having her fox bead in his body, he must try to keep her happy and hide the fact from his friends and family that she is a Gumiho. Dae Woong even gave her a name, Mi Ho. At first, Dae Woong denies liking Mi Ho but he eventually falls in love with her and would do anything to protect her.

Park Dong Ju (No Min-woo, former TRAX member) is not fully human but not a legendary animal like Mi Ho either who works as a veterinarian.

Since Mi Ho fell in love with Dae Woong, Dong Ju helps her to become human so that she could live with Dae Woong. According to Dong Ju, in order for her to become human, she must give her fox bead to Dae Woong for 100 days and drink Dong Ju's blood. However, Dong Ju did not tell Mi Ho that Dae Woong will die when Mi Ho takes back the fox bead from him on the 100th day.

Eun Hae In (Park Soo Jin) likes Dae Woong so she became jealous when Mi Ho became Dae Woong's girlfriend so she tries to do whatever she can to break them apart and find out Mi Ho's true identity.

Ban Seon Nyuh (Hyo Min, member of T-ara) and Kim Byung Soo (Kim Ho Chang) are Dae Woong's best friends in this drama. Seon Nyuh likes Dae Woong but she did not become jealous and even became good friends with Mi Ho. She eventually ends up with Byung Soo.

Director Ban (Sung Dong II), Seon Nyuh's father, is the director of the movie Dae Woong is acting in. At the end, he ends up with Cha Min Sook (Yoon Yoo Sun), Dae Woong's aunt.
